The SmartSite© Needle-Free Valve and SmartSite© Plus Needle-Free Valve with Positive Bolus (Displacement)

The founder of ATech Designs, Inc., Karl Leinsing, designed this valve for Cardinal Health (formerly ALARIS Medical Systems, IVAC, and imed). It eliminates the use of needles in intravenous (IV) sets, vial adapters, heparin locks, catheters, and other IV extension sets. This design is a simple 3-piece design that won five awards for its application of engineering materials & principals and for making a significant contribution to society and the economy of the state of North Carolina and the United States. The valve also made the cover of LIFE Magazine for helping to save the life of premature babies.
