Project
Management
ATech Designs, Inc.
follows FDA/ISO standards to manage an entire
project or small portions of a development project.
We take pride in providing complete thorough documentation
for all our products. Each design history file
is organized so that someone unfamiliar with the
product can understand the product and the complete
development process. We work with narrow or broad
cross-functional teams and provide updates on
the project progress on a regular basis.

Idea
Generation/Conceptual Brainstorming
You come up with the problem and ATech
Designs, Inc. will come up with ideas and
product concepts to solve the problem or market
need. Our Think-Tank Team consists of a diverse
group of people that pool ideas together.

Problem
Solving
We love to solve problems. We especially like
the difficult, more mysterious problems. We will
do a complete root cause analysis and provide
a complete report on our results.

Marketing
We will talk to
existing customers, perform research on the web,
and perform focus groups to determine the market
need and requirements. This is a critical process
that is part of our product development process
that we can also perform for customers that are
only interested in the market data.

Benchmarking
We test and perform analysis on competitive or
existing products to help provide input to product
specifications and learn about what works and
what doesn’t work.

Product
Development
We start with ideas and use thorough engineering
practices to turn those ideas into high quality,
manufacturable, profitable products. The founder
of ATech Designs, Inc.
uses a German style of engineering. This style
consists of refining designs or perfecting things
that currently work well and applying advanced
technology, where needed, to design new concepts
to fit a market need or to solve a problem. Our
goal is not to reinvent the wheel, but to combine
what already works with wheels with new technology
to design the best wheel. We also work hard to
design quality into our products and we always
keep manufacturing in mind when we design a product.
We make tolerances as loose as possible and we
utilize current known consistent manufacturing
techniques to create a product that is very capable
of being manufactured to specification. This is
commonly referred to as Design For Manufacturing
and Assembly or DFMA.

Product
Design
This is where we use our creativity and innovative
engineering skills to design a product. Our designs
start out very simple and only get more complicated
if absolutely necessary. This philosophy of design
builds quality into a product by keeping the number
of parts down, which reduces the number of potential
quality issues and reduces cost. We design all
our products using SolidWorks©
CAD software. We can import DXF, DWG, Parasolid,
IGES, STEP, ACIS, VDAFS, VRML, STL, Catia Graphics,
ProE, UGII, Inventor Part, Solid Edge Part, and
CADKEY parts. We can export Parasolid, IGES, STEP
AP203, STEP AP214, ACIS, VDAFS, VRML, STL, eDrawing,
Catia Graphics, ProE, JPEG, RealityWave ZGL, HCG,
HOOPS HSF, PDF, and TIF.

Polymer
Selection
ATech Designs, Inc.
has extensive experience with polymer selection
and can help identify the right polymer for your
application. We can help determine chemical resistance,
opaque versus translucent, mechanical strength,
aging, creep, ultrasonic welding, bonding, thermal,
and manufacturing requirements and then match
these requirements with the right polymer. We
can suggest amorphous, semi-crystalline, and crystalline
thermal plastics. We can also suggest liquid injection
molding (LIM) compounds, Thermal Plastic Elastomers
(TPE), Thermal Set, gum rubber, and engineering
resins and give you the pros and cons of each
of these choices.

FACTTM
Molding
This is a plastic injection molding process validation
technique that results in Fast
Accurate Consistent
Tight-Tolerance (FACT) Molding.
A process that uses the FACTS of physics to increase
quality while decreasing cycle time of an injection
molding process. This process does not require
the purchase of transducers or any other equipment.
ATech Designs, Inc.
trains Process Engineers/Press Operators how the
process works and give them software and procedures
to come up with the optimum process. It leaves
the guesswork out of molding and makes the process
more capable for validation. We will optimize
one or more processes as part of the training
program. We also guarantee the results. If the
new process does not improve the existing process,
then there is no charge for the training, software,
and procedure. The FACTTM
Molding technique has been used at many large
and small molding facilities with very positive
results. (References are available upon request.)
